Thomaston Savings Bank says it broke ground last week on its 14th branch, located on the grounds of a former industrial building in Farmington.
The bank, according to state filings, plans to invest $1 million at its first Farmington location at 155 Scott Swamp Road/Route 6. The facility is slated to open sometime this fall.
The Farmington branch is expected to occupy approximately 2,500 square feet and will employ five staffers.
“This new location will bring an additional layer of convenience to our existing customers and introduce Farmington to our high standard of community commitment…” said Stephen L. Lewis, the bank’s president and CEO.
Thomaston Savings’ has opened three other branches in the last five years, including two in Bristol and another in nearby Wolcott.
Lewis told the Hartford Business Journal last year the bank was also eyeing Plainville and Southington as other potential landing spots.
