Who gave you your best career advice? One summer when I was in college, I worked as a temp in the offices of the judge's secretaries at the New Haven Superior Court. I would spend a lot of time chatting with the older semi-retired judges when I would bring them their mail or over coffee in the morning. One afternoon, one of the judges was reflecting on cases he had presided over involving a very prominent and well-respected local attorney. The judge told me that, no matter what the circumstances, this particular attorney was always the best prepared person in the room. He always did his homework and always knew the facts and the legal issues better than any of his peers. As a result, his reputation and credibility grew over the years and, in a close case, he always got the benefit of the doubt from the court. Almost 20 years later I still think of that story.
I prepare for the unexpected in life by….. Staying nimble and being open to new experiences, ideas and challenges. I try to force myself to get outside of my comfort zone as often as possible by engaging with different people and by putting myself in unfamiliar circumstances. The wider your range of experiences, the more prepared you are to deal with the unexpected, and the less you will fear change.
What would the title of your autobiography be? 'My Parents' Legacy' My parents dedicated themselves to providing my siblings and I with the skills needed to be successful in life.
During my off time, I am most passionate about…. Spending time with family and friends
