The proposed project at 15 Colby Court, New Haven
Owners of a fire-damaged New Haven property are planning to build a new four-unit townhouse complex.
Bethany-based Art Builders LLC is proposing a four-family development with side-by-side units and garage space on the main level at 15 Colby Court.
According to city records, Art Builders bought the property for $85,000 June 2023. It had been the site of a February 2020 fire that damaged a 2,200-square-foot, single family home built in 1920.
The building would be razed for the new development.
Each townhouse would have two bedrooms, and one end unit would be deemed affordable, according to the application
New Haven is seeing a boom in multifamily projects large and small as city officials said there is great demand for more housing. Almost 1,000 units are set to come online in 2024 alone, with thousands more having been built in the last decade, and more are soon to be built.
The project will go before the City Plan Commission this month, and owners hope to start construction as soon as all approvals are in place, with work completed within nine months of starting.
