A Massachusetts man is looking to build a family entertainment center in the former Porter & Chester Institute site in Rocky Hill, complete with a trampoline park, arcade, rope course and other adventure activities.
The application by Jun Zhang of Fall River, Mass., for the facility at 30 Waterchase Drive, was approved by the town Planning and Zoning Commission.
Fun City Adventure Park will occupy about 57,000 square feet on the property, and is “a family-oriented entertainment center that includes trampolines, arcades, rope courses, playgrounds, children’s rock climbing, ninja courses, foam pits, battle beams,” and more, Zhang said in the application.
The Porter & Chester Institute, which teaches technical and professional courses for career training, closed its Rocky Hill location in October 2022. The plaza is owned by Jeff Miller of Shelton.
The use of the commercial space as an adventure park will not affect the amount of traffic associated with the plaza’s previous uses, and there is adequate parking, the application said.
New Britain has a Fun City location, and there are two other Fun City parks in Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire.
