Travelers Championship winners Watson, Knox to return in June

Two-time Travelers Championship winner Bubba Watson and defending champ Russell Knox have committed to play in the 2017 tournament, organizers announced Friday.

In late February, top PGA pro Rory McIlroy also committed to play the tournament, making the June 19-25 championship a higher-profile affair.

Ranked No. 16 in the world, Watson won the Travelers Championship in 2010 and 2015. His playoff victory in 2010 was the first of what’s become nine victories on the PGA TOUR.

Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube said Watson and Knox have “fond memories” of winning and are gearing up to compete again this year. This will be McIlroy's first appearance.
