Tribal casino slot revenues surge in March

Connecticut tribal casinos reported a spike in slot revenues in March.

Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned by the Mashantucket Pequots, said it recorded $43.6 million in slot revenues last month, up 12.7 percent from a year ago.

The amount slot bettors wagered in March, known as the "handle," was $516.4 million, up 4.4 percent from the $494.5 million wagered in March 2017, Foxwoods said.

Mohegan Sun, meanwhile, reported slot revenue of $54.8 million, compared to $52.6 million a year ago. Its handle rose to $682.5 million compared to $644.3 in the year-ago period.
