The leader of a Farmington manufacturing company has been named to the board of directors of AdvanceCT.
Lutz Labisch, the president and CEO of TRUMPF Inc., is the newest board member of the organization aimed at promoting Connecticut to businesses.
AdvanceCT’s board is led by Adam Norwitt, CEO of Amphenol Corp., and Judy Olian, president of Quinnipiac University, who serve as co-chairs. They were appointed in January after serving on the board for several years.
TRUMPF Inc., whose parent company is headquartered in Germany, is the North American subsidiary of German laser-cutting bending and welding technology company TRUMPF Group.
TRUMPF Inc. reported $1.05 billion in sales revenues in the 2022-23 fiscal year that ended June 30. 2023 – up 33% from the prior year. In the U.S. market alone, sales totaled $942 million, the company reported.
Last year, TRUMPF Inc. began constructing a 55,800-square-foot advanced manufacturing addition at its sprawling 58-acre campus in Farmington.
In his role, Labisch is responsible for production, sales and service of TRUMPF Inc.'s product portfolio in North America, along with strategy and business operations at the company’s facilities in Connecticut, California, Illinois and Michigan. He also oversees operations in Mexico, Canada and Brazil.
Labisch has also served as chief financial officer of TRUMPF Inc.
Labisch studied as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan and earned a master’s degree in industrial engineering and business administration from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.
"Having Lutz as part of our board will help propel Connecticut forward in one of our key Industry sectors: advanced manufacturing," said John Bourdeaux, president and CEO of AdvanceCT. “We are a manufacturing state, and Lutz Labisch is a manufacturing expert."
TRUMPF Inc. employs about 600 people in Farmington, and more than 1,600 people at several locations throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
AdvanceCT is a New Haven-based nonprofit that works to engage, retain and recruit businesses in collaboration with the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
