Two century-old Waterbury apartment buildings sell for $10.6M

A New Jersey buyer recently paid $10.6 million for two apartment buildings in and near downtown Waterbury with a total of 98 dwelling units.

In separate sales recorded June 14, limited liability companies with a common Lakewood, New Jersey address and principal in Yoseph Bialostozky bought a 49-unit apartment building at 42 Johnson St. and another 49-unit building at 380 West Main St.

The limited liability companies that sold to Bialostozky also trace back to a common principal – Northeast Holdings LLC, of Brooklyn, New York.
The 58,712-square-foot, three-story brick apartment building on an eighth of an acre at 42 Johnson St. sold for $5.7 million. The property had most recently sold for $1.6 million in 2015.

The 60,192-square-foot, four-story brick building on a third of an acre at 380 West Main St. sold for $4.9 million. Seven years earlier the property had sold for $1.5 million.

Sitting at the corner of Willow and West Main streets, the building at 380 West Main St. is one of the most prominent in downtown Waterbury. It also contains 49 apartments, according to city assessing records, and hosts first-floor retail, including La Cazuela Restaurant.
