Two prominent Connecticut manufacturers recently completed massive expansions in different parts of the state, both firms announced this week.

Barnes Aerospace, a subsidiary of Bristol-based manufacturer Barnes Group, announced this week it has completed work on its newly expanded maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in East Granby.

The project has added an additional 32,000 square feet of manufacturing space to the site, which now has more than 84,000 square feet. Per Barnes, the repair facility specializes in “highly complex repairs of cases, frames, diffusers, bearing housings and major rotating hardware” for the commercial and military-related aerospace industry.

Meanwhile, Danbury-based aerospace manufacturer ARKA Group also announced a completed project this week: a 14,000-foot expansion at its 550,000 square-foot headquarters.

The company said the expansion, which cost $85 million over two years, will allow it to expand its production capability of “smallsat systems, payloads and optical coating capabilities.”
