Two nonprofit social-impact organizations that help entrepreneurs in the Hartford and New Haven regions will merge, according to an announcement.

Hartford-based reSET Social Enterprise Trust will acquire Collab Inc., a New Haven-based organization with a similar goal of supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs in an effort to drive positive social change.

"We have been longtime ecosystem partners in this mission-driven work, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our reach through this integration,” said Sarah Bodley, executive director of reSET. “Joining forces with Collab strengthens our ability to serve more entrepreneurs with impact and achieve our mission through integrated resources, expertise and networks."

The acquisition will take effect this month, with both organizations continuing to serve their respective geographic regions in Greater Hartford and Greater New Haven, according to the announcement.

The combined organization plans to offer joint accelerators and mentorship initiatives, along with broader access to networks, funding sources, and educational resources for entrepreneurs.

reSET, founded in 2007, said its graduates report generating $30 million in revenue, raising nearly $19 million in funding and employing over 432 people. Collab, launched in 2017, reports that its alumni have generated over $8 million in revenue, raised over $3 million in funding and employed over 289 people.

The combined organization has formed a new advisory board consisting of members with longtime connections to New Haven.

A celebratory launch event is planned for April 3 in the New Haven area. The initial spring program schedule will be announced shortly after that.
