As a partner and senior consultant at Fiduciary Investment Advisors (FIA), Tyler Polk advises over $4 billion of defined contribution assets (401(k), 403(b) and 457(b) plans) with clients that range from large national corporations and nonprofits to local hospitals, universities, private schools, and municipalities. Polk employs a holistic approach to help plan sponsors manage their fiduciary responsibilities, while never losing sight of the primary purpose of the retirement plan, which is to help employees achieve successful outcomes for retirement readiness.
What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
I am passionate about helping people retire and have worked zealously to help save employees millions of dollars in retirement-plan expenses. As a partner at the firm I am also proud of being named Best Places to Work in Connecticut from 2011 to 2018 by the Hartford Business Journal. We have also been recognized in PLANADVISER Magazine’s Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers for the past nine years.
How are you involved in the community?
I am on the executive board for Camp Courant, which provides Hartford children a free camp for six weeks every summer, and I also volunteer as an executive board member for the Nutmeg State Games. Additionally, I participate on the board of ambassadors for the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my wife (Heather) and three children (Lucy, Fletcher and Shelby). I also enjoy fishing, golf, paddle tennis, and helping coach soccer and hockey.
Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty:
• I am a partner at Fiduciary Investment Advisors, a successful investment advisory firm.
• I help lead FIA’s Defined Contribution Business Council, which is responsible for strategy and direction for our defined contribution business, which makes up the majority of FIA’s $80 billion under advisement.
• I am on the board of directors for Camp Courant, which provides Hartford children a free camp for six weeks every summer.
• I volunteer as a board member of the Connecticut Sports Management Group, which hosts the Nutmeg State Games among other amateur sport events in the state.
I am named after two consecutive presidents: John Tyler (10th) and James K. Polk (11th).
Congratulations Tyler. Glad you are still kicking the soccer ball around.
