UConn’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday morning approved $1.55 million in spending that will allow several of the school’s sports teams — including men’s and women’s basketball — to continue to play some home games at the XL Center for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The facilities use agreement is with OVG360, which manages the XL Center. The deal runs through Oct. 1, 2023, through April 15, 2024.
The $1.55 million payment will allow UConn to use downtown Hartford’s XL Center for men's and women’s basketball games as well as men's ice hockey games.
The contract value includes a per game license fee and a facility fee (or ticket surcharge) for each ticket sold up to 12,450 for men's and women's basketball games, and up to 4,600 for men's ice hockey games, according to UConn.
UConn men’s basketball will play eight home games in Hartford this season, which kicks off Nov. 6 against Northern Arizona.
UConn’s men's ice hockey has four games scheduled at the XL Center starting Oct. 28 vs. UMass Lowell, in addition to the CT Ice Hockey Tournament in late January, which will feature Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University and Yale.
