The UConn Foundation has appointed longtime higher education fundraising executive Amy Yancey to serve as its next president and chief executive officer.

The nonprofit foundation is the primary fundraising arm for the University of Connecticut. It raised $157.9 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2023, money used to support student scholarships, academic programs and athletics.

Craig W. Ashmore, chair of the foundation’s board of directors, said Yancey is a “demonstrated and accomplished fundraiser.”

“We are expecting her to significantly elevate our organization’s performance,” he added.

Yancey’s most recent role was as vice president for development at Boston College, where she oversaw fundraising for financial aid, the student and athletic experience and academic programs.

Previously, Yancey worked for the University of Virginia as an associate vice president for development. In that position, she was responsible for raising approximately $1 billion as part of a larger campaign.

Yancey’s background also includes leading fundraising teams at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
