Due to a rise in enrollment for the upcoming year, the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford will offer student housing in downtown Hartford at the Millennium Apartments.

The complex, at 50 Morgan St., will be available for juniors, seniors and graduate students who want to consider living off campus in studio double units, the university announced Tuesday.

USJ leaders began exploring more housing options at the end of the last academic year when USJ undergraduate enrollment rose by 6% for the fall 2024-2025 school year.

USJ joins UConn in creating new student housing in downtown Hartford.

UConn, earlier this summer, approved a $28 million plan to develop an annex at 242 Trumbull St. in Hartford as a dormitory for students at its downtown branch.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this new option for our USJ students, particularly those engaged in pre-professional experiences downtown such as clinical rotations in nursing, pharmacy and nutrition, and a wide range of internships,” said USJ President Rhona Free.

The Millennium is a fully furnished apartment complex located next door to Dunkin’ Park and is approximately 12 minutes from the USJ campus by bus or car. The building was formerly a Sheraton hotel before it was converted into apartments. It’s owned by a partnership between Waterbury-based Axela Group and downtown Hartford landlord Shelbourne Global Solutions.

Student housing rent rates were not disclosed.
