A 38,692-square-foot retail plaza in Vernon that long housed the Ladd & Hall furniture store recently sold for $910,000.
The furniture store closed in 2020 and longtime proprietor and local business pillar Peter Olson died the following year.
Courthouse Plaza of Rockville Centre LLC – whose principal is listed as Peter F. Olson – sold the eight-unit retail building on nearly 3.4-acres at 20 East Main St., to The Rockville Center LLC, of Watertown, in a sale recorded by the town on Dec. 29.
The buyer’s principal is Normand J. Laliberte Jr., of Middlebury. He is also principal of Watertown-based Union Flooring Installations, a national commercial flooring contractor. Laliberte said he plans extensive renovations for the half-vacant plaza in the Rockville section of Vernon.
In the spring, Laliberte said, he will begin to put on a new roof and update the building facade. In the meantime, he will market the vacant space.
“That is my specialty,” said Laliberte, 61. “I buy buildings in a little rough shape and transform them into a long-term investment.”
Horvath & Tremblay represented both buyer and seller in the sale.
Horvath & Tremblay advertised the plaza as a “clean” space with “great street presences, superior parking field and adequate loading capabilities,” along with a 200-space parking lot emptying onto Route 74 and Brooklyn Street.
