West Hartford-based solar developer Verogy has applied for zoning approval to build a large solar panel farm behind a building owned by Travelers Indemnity Co. in Windsor.

The solar field would consist of hundreds of panels spanning 5.7 acres in a wooded area behind the building at 99 Lamberton Road, which is home to Travelers Claim University, a 110,000-square-foot training facility for claims professionals.

The Planning and Zoning Commission has continued the matter to its Feb. 11 meeting.

Verogy is developing solar projects across the state, including colocating agriculture with solar panel fields and converting capped landfills into solar fields.
