Vessel breaks ground on latest Cheshire housing project, eyes summer occupancy

Vessel Technologies has broken ground on its latest Connecticut project, a five-story, 70-unit apartment building at 146 Realty Drive, off Route 10, in Cheshire.

Affiliate Vessel RE Holdings bought the vacant property for $525,000 on Oct. 10, and started site work in early November. 

The building will have 66 one-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom apartments. Vessel will start taking resident applications two months prior to occupancy, company officials said, and rents will likely be set 20% below market rate. 

Vessel officials expect the project to be completed and ready for occupancy by summer 2024. 

The site has close access to routes 691, 91 and 84. These units will serve Cheshire’s workforce, including young adults returning home after college or downsizing seniors, said Vessel CEO Neil Rubler. 

Vessel is also offering franchise opportunities for several sites around Connecticut and will begin accepting applications in the new year for a dedicated local caretaker.
