A Hartford-based real estate securities fund has been named the best as the best global real estate fund for its three-year performance.
Thomson Reuters awarded The Virtus Global Real Estate Securities Fund a Lipper Fund Award for having the highest value in its classification for the three-year period ending Dec. 31, 2015.
Geoffrey P. Dybas, global head of REITs and senior portfolio manager at Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co., a subadviser to the fund and Virtus affiliate, and Frank J. Haggerty Jr., senior managing director and portfolio manager at Duff & Phelps, have managed the fund since its inception in 2009. Both men are chartered financial analysts.
Virtus says its fund provides global exposure to the real estate securities market by focusing on high-quality commercial real estate owner-operators with a rental business profile. These companies derive 70 percent or more of total revenue from rental income.
Thomson Reuters has run its Lipper Fund Award program for more than 30 years.
