Vito's chef to appear on Food Network show

Rob Maffucci, chef and owner Vito’s Restaurants, will appear on celebrity chef Bobby Flay’s Food Network show later this month, the restaurant group announced.

Maffucci, who owns restaurants in downtown Hartford, Windsor and Wethersfield, will face off against fellow chef James Gillespie in a culinary competition featuring a secret ingredient chosen by Flay. The contest will be judged by 'The Kitchen' hosts Geoffrey Zakarian and Jeff Mauro.

If Maffucci wins, he will compete in a contest against Flay.

The show will air Oct. 23 at 10 p.m.
