A Greenwich-based private equity firm has acquired the parent company of West Hartford Center’s adjoining Bartaco and Barcelona Wine Bar restaurants.
L Catterton announced Wednesday the completion of its roughly $650 million purchase of the portfolio held by Texas-based Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group Inc. That includes 78 restaurants under the brands of Bartaco, Barcelona, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse and Del Frisco's Grille in 17 states.
In conjunction with the closing, L Catterton said it’s also reached an agreement to divest Del Frisco’s steakhouse and grille restaurants to Texas-based hospitality, entertainment and gaming corporation Landry’s Inc.
L Catterton said it will operate Bartaco, an upscale taqueria and bar, and Barcelona, a chic tapas bar, as two separate businesses.
Bartaco began operating at 971 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford in 2012, and Barcelona debuted in an adjoining building there years prior.
There are currently 22 Bartaco restaurants in 13 states and 17 Barcelona restaurants across six states and Washington, D.C.
