West Hartford cable and network products provider Legrand North America said it has agreed to acquire a New Jersey company that makes data-center hardware and software.

Terms of the deal with Raritan were not disclosed. Legrand said the deal would allow it to offer its customers more products that monitor and manage energy consumption in data centers.

Legrand intends to purchase Raritan’s power distribution hardware business and its KVM switch businesses. Data center managers use keyboard-video-mouse switches to connect to multiple servers from a single computer.

Raritan also said it intends to spin off its data center software business into a new company called Sunbird Software.

Once the deal is complete, Raritan would operate as an independent business within Legrand.

The deal, which is subject to federal anti-trust approvals, is slated to close within two months, according to Legrand, which reported 2014 sales of $6 billion.

It’s Legrand’s first acquisition since March 2014, when it completed its purchase of Iowa cable-products provider Lastar.
