Waterbury car wash sells to growing Balise Auto-affiliated chain for $3.2M

Costar 1417 East Main St., Waterbury.

A Massachusetts-based car dealership group recently paid $3.2 million for a Waterbury car wash.

BAR CW Waterbury PT LLC – which shares leadership and a West Springfield address with Balise Auto Sales – acquired the 16-year-old, 3,340-square-foot car wash on 1.57 acres at 1417 East Main St., from Store Master Funding XII. The deed was recorded on Sept. 20.

Store Master’s principals are Mary Fedewa and Chad Freed. The pair list a Scottsdale, Arizona business address in their Connecticut state business filing. They paid $2.5 million for the Waterbury property in 2019.

Balise, according to its website, is a family-owned company that launched in a small Hatfield, Massachusetts garage in 1919. Today, the business operates 24 new and used auto dealerships in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island as well as five collision repair centers.

It also operates 13 car washes – including the newly acquired Waterbury location – in Connecticut under the “Flash Car Wash” brand, as well as five car washes in Rhode Island and three in Massachusetts, according to its website.

In late 2023, a Balise-affiliated LLC paid $5.53 million for a Glastonbury car wash. Another Balise-affiliated LLC paid $2.4 million for a Newington car wash in 2022.
