Wayback Burgers heading to Canada

The restaurant chain hopes the test kitchen will alleviate stress on local franchisees who were asked to provide kitchen space for recipe testing.

Cheshire-based Wayback Burgers has cracked the Canadian market. It has signed a master franchise partnership that could result in a minimum of 10 restaurants in Alberta.

Wayback Burgers, the fast-casual brand known for its fresh, never-frozen burgers and hand-dipped milkshakes, has inked a partnership with Alberta, Canada-based Wance and Malik Corp. As part of the partnership, Wance and Malik Corp. will open a minimum of 10 restaurants, with the first location slated to open during summer 2016.

Wayback Burgers currently has more than 135 locations slated to be open by the end of 2016 with another 350 stores in development worldwide. It has locations in 26 states, new restaurants opening at a rate of two to three per month and a 33-country international development schedule.

John Carter, founder and CEO of Wayback Burgers, said in a statement that the company’s growth has come about debt-free. “Wayback Burgers has solidified itself as a formidable player in the better burger category in the United States and abroad,” he said.
