Stamford-based Webster Bank will partner with workforce development nonprofit Career Resources Inc., on a resource center to provide job training, placement and financial education to Bridgeport’s poorest residents, the bank announced this week.
Webster has committed $750,000 to establish the resource center program, to be called The Bridge on Main.
Scheduled to launch in mid-2024, the program will provide access to job training and placement services, “aiming to address systemic barriers to employment, economic equity and community reintegration,” the bank said in a statement.
Webster Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer Marissa Weidner said, “The Bridge on Main will increase access, inclusion and opportunity in the Bridgeport area.”
Webster employees will participate in The Bridge on Main by providing financial education, and participants in the program will have access to the bank’s financial services.
The partnership was formed as part of Webster’s Community Investment Strategy, designed to support economic development in the bank’s service area.
