West Hartford-based accounting and business advisory firm blumshapiro absorbed another Massachusetts firm.
On Thursday, blumshapiro announced it has merged with The Brighton Company, based in Burlington, Mass., on Aug. 15.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal adds 18 employees to the 510 accountants and other staffers blumshapiro already had working across the two states, as well as Rhode Island and Washington, D.C.
It’s blumshapiro’s sixth location in Massachusetts, where last year it merged with a North Andover firm and expanded into Worcester with a new office. This year, the firm roughly tripled the size of its Boston office.
The Brighton Co., which will remain in its current location operating under the blumshapiro name, specializes in outsourcing chief financial officer, controller and accountant functions to early stage and middle-market companies.
“We continue to look for opportunities to partner with leading firms who are strategically aligned with our firm’s focus on delivering innovative services and thought leadership to the market,” Joseph A. Kask, blumshapiro’ CEO, said in a statement. “Brighton has established themselves as such a company and I am excited to have them as part of the blum team.”
