Westport AI biotech company gets $4M investment

A Westport-based startup that applies artificial intelligence to biomedical research has received a $4 million investment.

Epistemic AI will use the funding from ClearView Healthcare Partners to accelerate the development of its knowledge discovery platform EpistemicGPT.

Boston-based ClearView also says it intends to integrate Epistemic’s technology across its current consulting offerings to automate complex analytical tasks.

Epistemic’s platform combines large language models with a proprietary knowledge graph to deliver biomedical information, the company said. The technology is designed to accelerate scientific discoveries and enhance patient outcomes, it said

For instance, through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, Epistemic says it can streamline drug discovery and development processes.

“The life sciences industry is at a pivotal moment where AI can dramatically accelerate research and development,” said Stefano Pacifico, CEO of Epistemic AI. “By working closely with ClearView following its investment, we will be able to capitalize on our technology leadership to expand the reach and impact of Epistemic AI.”

Epistemic AI was founded in 2018.
