Westport-based skin and hair products company sold to European firm
A Westport-based skin and hair products company, HRB Brands, has been acquired by a European company.
The buyer, Sodalis Group, is a family-owned business headquartered in Lodi, Italy.
HRB, which owns brands including Alberto VO5, Brut and Zero Frizz, was sold to Sodalis by the private equity firm Tengram Capital Partners, also based in Westport.
Tengram acquired HRB in April 2020.
In recent years, HRB expanded into the Latin American market and has made other investments.
Fabio Granata, CEO of Sodalis, said the deal will allow the company to bring its products to North America and South America.
“With this acquisition, what seemed like a crazy dream becomes reality: Sodalis enters the American market with a direct affiliate,” Granata said. “It is a great transformation for our company, born in a small Italian province, now expanding to the United States market.”
Tengram Capital Partners owns multiple consumer brands, including Tone It Up and Zanella. It previously owned Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. and Sharper Image.
Sodalis has offices in France, Germany, Portugal and Spain, along with five research laboratories and five production sites.
