Yard Goats announce new safety rules for upcoming baseball season

Baseball fans must wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines to attend Yard Goats games at Dunkin’ Donuts Park this spring, the team announced Wednesday.

The Hartford Double-A team, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, will play its home opener on Tuesday, May 11 at 7:05 against the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs.

Advance tickets will be available online only and be available at a date to be announced, the team said.

Following CDC protocols, the Yard Goats management is working with the state, city of Hartford and Major League Baseball to establish safety guidelines for fans including the mask requirement, mandated for all patrons aged 2 and up. Masks can be temporarily removed while eating and drinking.

“The Yard Goats are committed to practicing the best and safest efforts to keep the community safe when attending baseball and other events at Dunkin’ Donuts Park,” team President Tim Restall said.

Other new rules:

Fans will be seated in socially distanced pods of two to six seats in the main seating sections.

Entry points have been reconfigured to allow for distanced entry at multiple locations within the park.

Fans are strongly encouraged to leave bags at home to reduce points of contact during the security screening process.

The ballpark is now a cashless/contactless venue (guests handle their own credit and debit cards). Gift and credit/debit cards will be accepted at the box office, team store, and food and beverage stands.

In the event of a rain delay, attendees can return to their cars for shelter to reduce crowds in the concourse and can re-enter once the delay is over.
