Should the state allow the proposed ban on automakers selling new gas-powered vehicles starting in 2035 to move forward?
Choices
Poll Description

A debate has unfolded in Connecticut about a proposed regulation that would ban automakers from selling new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035.

The ban would force people to switch to electric cars, which advocates say will help Connecticut, which has among the worst air quality levels in the country, meet the Environmental Protection Agency's standards for air quality.

However, opponents say the state doesn't have a plan to ensure there are enough charging stations — or enough electricity — to support the influx of electric vehicles on Connecticut roads.

The state legislature's Regulation Review Committee was scheduled to consider whether to accept, reject or seek revisions to the regulation on Tuesday, but the matter was withdrawn.
