Recently, an iconic diner in Newington, Olympia Diner at 3413 Berlin Turnpike, was listed for sale. Once sold, it could reopen as a restaurant, or it could be demolished and redeveloped.
In nearby Wethersfield, a Plainville development group plans to demolish the Wethersfield Diner on the Silas Deane Highway and build a new mixed-use retail and residential building on the site.
Also, the state recently approved $3 million to help redevelop the long-shuttered Aetna Diner at 267 Farmington Ave. in Hartford into a community center.
