Junior Achievement empowers young people to own their economic success.
Junior Achievement provides programs during the school day and after school for students in kindergarten through high school that focus on financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. JA’s programs are delivered by volunteers from business and the community who work side by side with classroom teachers to prepare and inspire students for future success.
JA Classic Golf Tournament: Slated for June 6, 2022 at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, this event has earned a reputation as one of New England’s best charity golf tournaments, thanks to its high-end gift package, great customer service and entertainment opportunities.
Business Hall of Fame:
This event honors individuals and organizations from the Hartford and New Haven regions whose careers in business and dedication to improving the local community make them an inspiration and role model for young people. The JA Business Hall of Fame will be held on April 7, 2022.
Play 4 JA:
This fun peer-to-peer fundraising series includes two options for interactive virtual games to engage our corporate partners in team building while supporting a charitable cause, Virtual Trivia and Virtual Jukebox Bingo. When possible, JA will again offer our popular Bowl-A- Thon events as an in-person option alongside the two virtual offerings.
Partners in Achievement Breakfast:
Featuring students, educators, volunteers, and donors sharing JA’s impact in the local community, this individual fundraiser showcases the life-changing impact of JA programs. This event will be held on May 13, 2022.
Office Warriors:
This event is an opportunity for some of our biggest corporate supporters to come out and compete against one another in a series of dynamic and wacky office themed games. Varying levels of sponsorship are available to participate in or support the event. Occurring as a kick off to summer, it will be held at the end of June 2022. Please contact Misty Amarena at mamarena@jaconn.org for more information and for sponsorship opportunities.
Junior Achievement relies on volunteers from businesses and the community to provide programming to students. In sharing personal and professional experiences, volunteers are critical to the success of all JA programs by helping students understand the connection of academic learning to workplace needs and future career and financial successes. Through a transition to virtual programming, JA has created a menu of flexible options for volunteers that includes participating in live career panel webinars, pre- recording short JA lessons or other videos, “beaming” into a class via live video conferencing, and more. All volunteers receive training and activities designed to make the classroom experience gratifying and successful. Volunteers can participate as a group from a company as a team-building exercise or as individuals.
The pandemic spawned a great deal of reflection and we redoubled our commitment to further deepen the impact JA has on the students we serve. We made it a priority to establish JA as a true solution provider, not just a program provider. With impact as our main driver, we listened attentively to our constituents and tailored programs and volunteer opportunities to meet the needs of our loyal partners. The changes made are lasting ones and, though we are eager to return to in-person programming, many of our virtual options will remain available to educators and volunteers indefinitely.
“Thank you Junior Achievement for shaping me into the person I am today. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be where I am today. You instilled in me the confidence, the drive, and the motivation to be greater than my situation and I cannot thank you enough for that.”
