United Way Women United’s Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction
Proceeds go to United Way- supported family financial center and other economic mobility programs. Since 2011, United Way Women United has raised more than $1.7 million to provide financial services for women and families in Greater Hartford.
United Way Emerging Leaders Society (ELS) Case Competition
The ELS Case Competition offers a unique eight-week opportunity for young professionals and executives to work together to solve a community issue. Teams will be immersed in learning about a particular community challenge and positioned to identify creative solutions, develop personally and professionally, sharpen their virtual presence, and form an instant network of individuals with diverse
backgrounds and leadership styles.
Despite the challenges of the past year and a half, we have demonstrated together that while we are physically apart, the power of community has never been stronger. COVID-19 forced us to approach our work differently – with many workplace campaigns, events and volunteer opportunities making the move to virtual. While some of our methods have changed, United Way remains steadfast in its commitment to children, adults and families. The goal is not to get back to where we were, it’s to build back better, to a future with more equitable outcomes for all. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.
“I’m very proud of my association with United Way. Paula Gilberto and her team do a tremendous job of reaching into the community and providing the tools people need to improve their circumstances and their lives. There’s been a big emphasis on kindness stemming from our shared COVID-19 experience. United Way’s work and supporters are kindness personified.”
